Land Acknowledgment

We acknowledge the land on which we occupy the gardens and kitchen of Art de Cuisine in PDX. "The Portland Metro area rests on traditional village sites of the Multnomah, Wasco, Cowlitz, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Bands of Chinook, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, and many other tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River creating communities and summer encampments to harvest and use the plentiful natural resources of the area" (Portland Indian Leaders Roundtable, 2018).” We take this opportunity to thank the original caretakers of this land.

Sara Bergadine, Owner of Art de Cuisine

You could say my love of food runs deep.

At a very young age, I started to experiment in the kitchen. I wrote my first cookbook at age 8!

A life-long Portlandian, my career took off as the exciting Pacific Northwest food industry was blossoming. Starting at age 14, I worked every restaurant position including dishwasher, cook, hostess, waitress, and bartender, all over a 10 year period. This taught me how all aspects of the service industry operate as one. Then I went to culinary school, where I merged my experience with new training and techniques.

In 2004, I left the restaurant scene to start my own venture here in Portland. Seventeen years later, I am still doing the work that I love.

I’ve lived my entire life appreciating the abundance the Pacific Northwest gives us. Located in SE Portland, I live and work in the Lents neighborhood next to Zenger Farms, one of our amazing vendors.  As the chef and owner, I value the connections with our local farmers and also enjoy growing our own herbs, edible flowers and produce to support our seasonal menus.

Everything I do is fueled by a deep-rooted drive toward all things food, travel and celebration! From our table to yours, Art de Cuisine Catering would love to help you celebrate your next event. Please get in touch for individual pricing and a proposal!
